PRAIRIEVILLE, La. —- Residents in the area between Highway 431 and Fred’s in Ascension Parish were disturbed by gunshots late last Wednesday night.
One resident’s camera shows a couple of cars driving on the highway with gunshots ringing out between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.
“I saw two cars pass by on the main highway and then I don’t know if they were shooting at each other or shooting at houses or just shooting in the air but it was a bunch of shots,” the resident who has asked to remain anonymous for their protection, said. “A little while later, you can hear more shots when they were further down the road. The cops came out and they said they didn’t find any shell casings, so they kind of figured maybe they were shooting at each other from inside the vehicle.”
The resident said his family has been living in their home for six years and haven’t had to deal with something like what happened earlier this week.
He said the incident Wednesday night is alarming.
“It’s unnerving,” he said. “My kids’ bedrooms are on the highway side of the house. If people run around here shooting again, like, I don’t know, if they’re shooting at houses, but if they’re shooting at houses, that really ticks me off, because my kids’ bedrooms are on that side. It’s unsafe and it does kind of rattle your nerves a little bit.”
