Ecwid vs WooCommerce, two of the most popular ecommerce plugins for WordPress, but which one is the better option?
Ecwid ๐ https://www.paulschannel.com/ecwid
WooCommerce ๐ https://www.paulschannel.com/woocommerce
As WordPress is one of the most popular platforms for building a website in the world, it is understandable that people are going to want to sell via their website.
This is where Ecwid and WooCommerce come in to play as the both allow you to add ecommerce functionality to your WordPress website, but they do it in different ways, which I cover in this comparison video.
I also look at what both of the plugins are like to use and how well they work with WordPress, along with the ecommerce features that both of them bring to the table.
As I said in the video, I have also done a written comparison between these two plugins and you can check that out by clicking the link below:

I hope you found this video helpful and helped you decide which one is the better option for your WordPress website. If you have, I like on the video would really be appreciated.

Thanks a lot for this review Paul! I was looking at Shopwired, but as I already have a WordPress site I think Iโll go for Ecwid and try it out! This video ha really helped me understand what Woocommerce is like and the pros and cons of both!!
thanks heaps for this, a great review and comparison
hello, you say that it is not necessary to place the SSL certificate, so what would you need to buy for wordpress is a domain and hosting and nothing else?
Are you saying I can make a website and then move it to WooCommerce?
In order to improve SEO? Ecwid – Woocommerce? I use ecwid since may 2020 and is a great tool.
I was a fan of Ecwid and chose them over Woocommerce since they seemed more digital product friendly. It was a little frustrating to see that there aren't many integrations with Ecwid including site builders such as Elementor & Brizy. We upgraded to their Business plan since we did need the ability to connect to Mailchimp (which honestly should be included in their Venture plan). Then when you dig deeper, you realize that Ecwid doesn't offer simple processes that their competitors do. One of them is selling license keys. Woocommerce, Shopify, etc. offer this. Their development team just quoted us $5,000 to develop this?! Now we're stuck with them for a year. Their documentation is outdated and they don't expand on their capability to upload 25GB per digital file. I was rooting for them as no one has ever heard of them, but I think they're the underdog for a reason.
What does "It creates SEO from urls" even mean? Almost every other platform generates SEO friendly urls and does a better job usually. But that's just a tiny aspect of SEO. Also, it's funny how they promote free SSL as a feature when it's free everywhere now. If you are charged for SSL, you are being scammed.
One question if you have a free plan on ecwid and you install the ecwid plugin on WordPress. will I be able to still do the things I couldn't do on the free plan on eciwd on my WordPress site?
Q2: could I run both woocommerce and ecwid because since the free plan limits you to certain things if I have both I could I get access to most of the things that's for free on woocommerce
Great video, thank you. I already have woocommerce shop on WP, how can I migrate to Ecwid?
Brilliant video, just one question.
When adding products to Ecwid via the WordPress pluging, these products and images are actually hosted on Ecwid and not your WordPress host? Or this only applies when adding products on Ecwid?
Thanks
Is it possible to integrate both plugins in your wordpress website ? e.g Keeping Ecwid for international payment gateways and Primary website functionality and Woocommerce for integrating local payment gateways ?
One thing that has confused me, i thought that if i make a website on Ecwid , it will be made in wordpress automatically. So according to your demonstration, it seems Ecwid has it's own CMS and gives you an option to integrate it with your Wordress website.
Q – 1 – Does it mean i cannot make a wordpress website in Ecwid using their website builder ?
Q – 2 – if i want to make a wordpress website before joining Ecwid , where should i go and build it ?
Thank you very much for making this video!! I am just doing my research to choose the best web hosting service so i can make my online e commerce music store. I haven't found any instructional content particularly made on how to make an online music store.
so with woocommerce you can not have facebook and Instagram shops integrated?
Nice video – Do you by chance know if you can create product bundles (packages, groups of products) easily with Ecwid? One of my clients uses WooCommerce Product Bundles and we've considered changing over to Ecwid so that we can sell the same products on 2 different sites, but the lack of it might keep us locked into Woo. I'd love any thoughts.
Nice work mate. Thanks for the salient info!
Paul, excellent content you are uploading. There is not much ecwid content and the little that is on youtube is very outdated. I think you are doing an excellent job. I think ecwid will be a solution for small businesses to be online without investing a lot of money in complex and expensive pages. It would be great if you could make step-by-step videos of how to set up the e-commerce and the necessary plug-ins for small businesses, this would be content. as well as if they were minicourses .. all this focused so that the small businesses can sell their products and recover the money from their inventories ….. and by the way a thousand apologies for calling you Patrick, not what I was thinking. I live in Spain. as we say here in Spain. …… uncle you are a machine
Paul, translation in spanish please.
