If you're wondering why your SSL is not working on your website, or still going through HTTP protocol, you may need to force it with an HTTPS redirect. In this vid, we'll show you how to route all traffic through the SSL and ensure that every web page is secure.
Note: You do get FREE SSL with every hosting account with HostGator, but you may still need to activate it by forcing the HTTPS.

This is helpful video
Great video.. Without you tell me to click "Activate" I couldn't have never done the installation.
For those who might be having issues, it's important to note that Hostgator doesn't seem to give the SSL certificate as soon as you add the domain to cpanel, so everyone should wait a few hours if you're adding the domain to cpanel for the first time before installing wordpress and activating the plugin (not sure if the video mentioned this, I can't do videos with audio).
I installed wordpress and this plugin before I had received the SSL certificate from hostgator, so ran into problems and many more steps it was asking me. So for those who ran into issues, I had to start over, removed the domain and all remnants of it from cpanel (uninstalled wordpress, went to SSL/TSL in cpanel menu and deleted any mentions of the domain under "Private Keys (Key)" and "CERTIFICATES (CRT)"), so started with a clean slate.
Then re-added the domain, checked in "CERTIFICATES (CRT)" and saw that the domain was not listed in there, so Hostgator hadn't given me the SSL certificate as soon as I added the domain. Waited a few hours then checked under there again and saw it was now listed under there, meaning I was then given the certificate. I then reinstalled wordpess and the plugin and it installed ok this time without prompting for additional steps.
However, it's still not redirecting properly, even though it's saying in the Really Simple SSL plugin that everything is OK. If I go to the HTTPS version of the site, it says secure, but it's not redicting there when typing in the domain into my browser without HTTPS before. I'm looking into other plugins or ways to force it instead.
Thank You
when after we get Really Simple SSL plugin done with Override SSL detection activation then activate SSL after some time it expires

Does this will make my website completely secure for other to visit ?? Please answer ๐๐ป
So helpful!! All other videos were way more complicated. This one saved us…. Thank you!
very useful video. thank you
Amazing, thanks for your video!
I am looking to change our website from http to https, I do get the secure lock when I add the "s" in front of the URL. The website seems to function fine, but the only trouble I see is that one of the slider bars on our home page doesn't process the images so it creates a white block. Do you think this plug in will correct this by making the URL on the images https as well? It looks like it just can't find the images. If all else fails, the web server is virtual so I can take a snap shop and restore from snap shot if needed. I'm just trying to prepare myself for complications.
Thank you for this great video!
I accidently force the HTTPS. Now I cant even access my wordpress. help !. Solution?
Thanks, Josh. I purchased the Hatchling HostGator plan yesterday, and when WordPress was installed, my permalinks were http. I installed the Really Simple SSL plugin, and they're now HTTPS and I have the padlock. But I'm still receiving SSL warning messages about missing security headers even though I added the following to my .htaccess file in public_html and cleared my cache:
Header always set Strict-Transport-Security: "max-age=31536000" env=HTTPS
Header always set Content-Security-Policy "upgrade-insecure-requests"
Header always set X-Content-Type-Options "nosniff"
Header always set X-XSS-Protection "1; mode=block"
Header always set Expect-CT "max-age=7776000, enforce"
Header always set Referrer-Policy: "no-referrer-when-downgrade"
Any recommendations for how to resolve the security header warnings?

Thank you!๐
This video really helped me a lot.
Cool thanks
Be sure to check your general settings on WP Admin before installing the plugin… I would check to see if both the WORDPRESS ADDRESS (URL) and SITE ADDRESS (URL) are using HTTPS. Change both to HTTPS, this might do the trick!
Haloo, please help me, I accidently force the HTTPS. Now I cant even access my wordpress. Please help. Is theres anyway to uninstall it?? Pleaseeee

I am a new web developer, working on my first site and I had purchased SSL from my hosting company but was baffled at why my site was still not secure. I was sent the link to this video and I am very grateful for your guidance! thanking you very much.
Hey thank you for the tutorial. Quick question, with the new WordPress update, should I remove this plugin and use WordPressโs automatic SSL stop or should I keep it?
Chrome says my certificate expired. Does Hostgator provide a new one free (like the first 12months) or I need to buy it, now that I'm passed 12 months?
fantastic video and very clearly explained. thankyou!!
