How to Integrate Mailchimp with WooCommerce (2020)

In this video, I guide you through on how to integrate Mailchimp with WooCommerce using the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin. By integrating WooCommerce with your Mailchimp account you enable some great features such as Abandoned Cart Email, Order Notifications, and Product Retargeting.

WordPress requirements – must have at least PHP version 7 or greater. Check with your web host provider.

Step 1
Install the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin.
Go over to your dashboard on your WordPress website. Go to plugins. Click on Add New. Then, go to search plugins, and type in Mailchimp for WooCommerce. Click on Install Now, then Activate.

Step 2
In the plugin, click the green Connect button. In the pop-up window enter your Mailchimp user id and password. This will make the connection to Mailchimp with your website. No need to enter API keys anymore.

Step 3
Go through all the prompts for Store Settings, Audience Settings, and Opt in Settings.

Step 4
Back in your Mailchimp account verify the connected integration and set up any e-commerce automation for your WooCommerce store.

Hi Larry, thanks a lot for this great content and the others ! I have one question regarding the e-commerce fields : do all the orders through Woocommerce are synced or only the one that are done after a Mailchimp campaign ? For example, does the field "Total Spent" refers to how much money has the customer spent through Mailchimp campaigns or how much money he has spent in total through Woocommerce ? Also during initial sync are the previous orders informations synced or not ? Your answer will be so helpful ! Thanks !

This is helpful. Thanks. What I'm hoping to do with this plugin is when a user purchases a specific product, they will get an automated email with the course details. It seems like that's sort of possible with segments but I'm not sure exactly how it's all set up. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Larry. Thanks for this info. We are a small non profit needing to manage membership. We are considering wild apricot but that is quite expensive. Do you think woo membership and subscription with the integration will do the same thing for so much less?

Can you explain the difference of the Mailchimp for WooCommerce vs Mailchimp for WordPress plugins? Would I need both for an eCommerce store that uses WooCommerce or just Mailchimp for WooCommerce? thanks!

Thanks for the vid. I'm a little confused about the "newsletter verification email" under "audience default". Is there a way to turn that off? I'd prefer to send my own automation through mailchimp. I can't find it in the email settings of woocommerce

I have a WooCommerce store and I am trying to find out which mailchimp plugin do I need to install! I want to add a newsletter subscription and of course automation, so do I install Mailchimp for WooCommerce (only) OR I will also need to install Mailchimp for WordPress plugin???
I could not find a single video comparing the two plugins.

Hi Larry. Thank you for the video. I came accross some issues tho. Wondering if you would be so kind to help.
    1. Order notification email is now being sent only when the status of the order is "finished". How and where can I change it so it send it right after customers place their order?
    2. I have a bilingual website. How can I setup two different audiences for subscription so they go to the right list? And also how can I make Order notification email bilingual (this formula cannot be inserted in there |IF:MC_LANGUAGE=es| Spanish content here. |ELSE:| Display English content for everyone else. *|END:IF|*)? It should send the email in the language that they browsed the website in.

If you had some answers for me it would make my day. Thanks.

Hi Larry! Thanks so much for your amazing videos – they are helping me so much to set up my business. This one is especially useful, except that when I get to the page you are on at 6:08, I do not have the same options as you. The Abandon Cart / Product Retargeting / Order notifications sections are not there. Is that because you have a different subscription than I do? Thanks in advance for your kind reply.
