When looking for a way to connect the Square checkout point of sale system with a Woocommerce store on WordPress, you’ll probably be as shocked as myself to see the quantity of 1 star reviews. I put the plugin to the test to see if it really was as bad as it seems.
From what I can work out, it seems that there are limitations such as product complexity and sync in some directions is a litter slower than might be desired but it does work. Watch the video to find out the specifics of what works well and what doesn’t. I think it’ll be specific to your use case as to whether or not it’s a viable solution, but it will work for us.

Did you install any other plug-ins for woocommerce to set this integration up?
Hi man. When you make any in store transactions all your orders history will be only showing on Square side. I don’t know if you have any idea how to keep all the order records in WooCommerce side?
I know this is old, but I am hoping you could help answer a question for me. We have a woocommerce store that sells cookies and the way its setup is that the only variables are quantity. Variable 1 -3 pack, variable 2 – 6 pack, variable 3 -12 pack, etc.. We do not track inventory at all. What we do since they are made to order is change the status to public if its for sale and change it to unpublished if it is not for sale. We just purchased an Oliver POS with cash drawer and customer screen and it was a disaster. I wont go into the detail about how much of a piece of trash the terminal and support is, but just wanted to say why I really want to be sure before making another purchase as this has been a two month delay with going live. Do you thing this would work for our store?
I have a woocommerce store with variable products, but every variable product has a unique SKU. You mentioned at 1:55 that it only works with simple products… "unless you're only using the inventory management component of Woocommerce." Can you explain more about the statement in quotes? Does this mean that there is a work-around?
It works great until you have different size coffee bag or coffee cups then the plugin just became obsolete! If you have different sizes, colors, flavors, scents, engine size, tire size, any kinda variation and the plugin is worthless and you spend hours of your life to learn it the hard way.
The older Square plugin worked for variations until after ver 1.038. once they updated to the Woo Commerce to 2.0 it stopped syncing variable products and they have know about it for over 3 years and have not fixed it.
Great video! Do you think there would be any problems just using this Square plugin solely as a payment processor? I do not have any products or anything populated in a Square website, it's all done through woocommerce.
Great review, thanks so much for the tips!!
Hi brother, what's with the Ethiopia thing there … I'm from that country. Haha
Hi. My question is a general one about the immigration. After connecting square to the website, inventory would have to be on either woocommerance or square? Or can it be kept seperate? Great video too btw
THANK YOU! This is exactly what I needed. I was tripping on the bad reviews as well. I started out with the plan to do exactly what you said…wordpress with woocommerce then add square for when I'm at markets in person. So, once I looked into adding the plug in to my wordpress site and saw those bad reviews I was totally thrown off. This was so helpful.
Yeah. That's the main issue. Before their updates syncing with products with multiple variations, there was no issue. Square made an automatic sku. Now there is no way to have multiple product variations which doesn't help with stores that sell items with multiple colors or sizes.
It’s likely a cron job for the update. You can create your own cron job and run it sooner, say every 5 minutes. I would recommend disabling WP-cron and using cron tab.
Great video. This should help quite a few people that passed this plugin up because of the reviews.
Why to have a duplicated synced inventory to squareup at all since it's records in woocommerce?..
